The Stonehenge School Fund - Raising additional funds to enhance the educational experience for all
The Stonehenge School Fund - Raising additional funds to enhance the educational experience for all students at the school, in areas that the main school budget cannot stretch to. The fund supports registration fees for sporting events, prizes for rewarding students, productions and clubs. Our aim is to provide students with more opportunities and better facilities. Our fundraising has purchased items for the school grounds such as a wooden shelter, benches, minibus and reward prizes.
Why the community needs usWe work closely with our feeder primary schools and support them by utilising our minibuses and drivers to transport them to various activities such as swimming and horse riding. A smooth transition is encouraged from primary to secondary school and our school Librarian works within the Amesbury Cluster to promote our Accelerated reading scheme raising literacy levels and giving the opportunity for younger students to visit our large secondary school library with a wider choice of books.
Our impact on the communityWe have recently purchased a brand new minibus which we use to transport students to vocational courses, on trips and to sporting activities. A new shelter was purchased last year from Awards for All lottery funding and fundraising through our school fund charity. Students are able to use this during their break and lunch times to meet up, eat their lunch and sit and enjoy the school grounds. During the school day teachers can utilise the shelter as an outside classroom.
