This historic pool provides a much-loved leisure facility for Glynde, Beddingham & Firle residents.
The Pool Committee aims to provide a safe, well-maintained, community pool that is affordable and enjoyable for all residents regardless of age or income. In partnership with members and volunteers we seek to foster community spirit, enhance family life and promote health and well-being. As stewards of this 100 year old pool, we look to maintain it not only for the current membership base, but for future generations to come.
Why the community needs usThe pool has played a key role in the life of the local parishes since it first opened to swimmers in 1904 and continues to bring pleasure to the 170 adults and children who are currently members. In a rural area with limited recreational options it provides a valuable local facility that is especially important for young families, teenagers and those with limited transport.
Our impact on the communityAs well as providing an opportunity for members to take healthy exercise, the pool is a place where people of all ages from across the three parishes can meet, socialise, get to know one another, welcome newcomers and have fun together. At quiet times, the pool can also be a place of tranquillity, offering people a chance to relax and unwind.
