To improve the quality of life and awarenes to Deaf and Hard-of-hearing issues who live locally.
The not-for-profit group is for residents of Bracknell-Forest and adjacent areas that are either Deaf or Hard-of-hearing. The group meets twice a month for social discourse, informative discussions, support/help, and entertainment along with refreshments. We particularly focus on health-related issues, good communications and personal safety aspects during the year. We normally have a couple of mini-bus trips a year to take members out to interesting places.
Why the community needs usBADHOGS concentrates on improving the quality of life and particularly communications quality for its members and acts as a focal point for good-practice regarding standards and equipment technology as well as advice and advocacy.
Our impact on the communityOver the past 12 months the membership has grown along with knowledge regarding the support from other statutory services such as the police, fire-service, local authority, Health authority and "Action on Hearing Loss" via guest speakers as well as from other supportive groups.
We need a mix of volunteers who are fully aware of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing issues and can support our website and has good marketing and communications skills who can expand both our services and outreach.
