Swan Lifeline offer rescue and rehabilitation for sick and injured swans in the Thames Valley area
Established in 1986, we rescue, care for, treat and rehabilitate sick and injured swans, releasing them back to the wild whenever possible. We have offered dedicated care to the swan population for 30 years from our island site in Eton. We use a team of dedicated volunteers who are on call to rescue swans in difficulty throughout the Thames Valley and South East England. As we approach our 30th Anniversary next year we are refurbishing our site and re-equipping our swan rescue service.
Why the community needs usWe offer education, conservation and wildlife habitat advice to community groups, schools and the general public. We will offer on-site educational seminars for school children and interested community groups. We also, on request, visit groups to deliver educational talks about the rescue, care and rehabilitation of swans. We have recently worked with U3a, wildlife groups, day centres and nature enthusiasts.
Our impact on the communityWe have the capacity at our site to look after up to 80 swans at any one time. Some are long term residents, one winged swans and orphaned cygnets. Our aim is to rehabilitate whenever possible, either back into the wild or to private and safe water. We work closely with the Queen's swan marker, The Loyal Company of Vintners and the Loyal Company of Dyers who are responsible for all the swans in our area. With the funds we hope to raise we will re-open for our 30th anniversary next year.
A love of swans, general maintenance, cleaning and care of sick and injured birds
