Radio Swindon 105.5 Cycle Challenge

At the end of August I will be taking part in a cycling challenge - The Five Valleys Sportive - to raise money for Radio Swindon 105.5. The Five Valleys Sportive takes place in South Wales, is 72 miles long and is a real challenge as the route takes in some pretty tough climbs, such as the Bwlch and Rhigos passes. I have been inspired to do this ride to raise money for Swindon 105.5 because my daughter, Laura, who has Asperger's Syndrome, has really benefitted from volunteering at the radio station and now I would like to give something back. Swindon 105.5 is a completely non-commercial community radio station that does an amazing job in supporting and promoting community projects and giving young people the skills and confidence to find work. The station manager, Shirley Luford, is the driving force behind the station and has recently been recognised for her services to Swindon's local community by being awarded the High Sheriff of Wiltshire's Award. In addition, in June, the radio station also received the Queen's Award for Voluntary Services - the equivalent of an MBE. Despite all the good work that the station carries out it is still totally reliant on donations, grants and good will. Anything that you can give will really help the radio station continue its good works - thank you!
