Purpose

We provide a specialist centre for young people between 19 - 25 with complex needs and disabilities including moderate and severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties, ASD, sensory impairment and physical disabilities.

Why our community needs our service

This is the only centre in Calderdale specifically designed to meet the needs of young people with severe and complex needs. Their alternatives are staying at home all day or attending centres designed for much older people.

Results and outcomes

We have already become the 'destination of choice' for many young people when leaving their special school, but we need to expand our facilities to be ready for next year's new Next Steppers

Our activities and projects

New Minibus

As the numbers of wheelchair users at The Next Step Trust has increased, we are finding it increasingly difficult to transport Next Steppers to these external activities. A second minibus with a passenger lift is becoming essential. read more
