Annual bike ride to raise money for local causes inspired by the life of George Hutchings
George's Marvellous Bike Ride is an annual charity ride and now an integral part of the Bradford on Avon Cycling Festival. It was started in 2012 in memory of George Hutchings who had quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy. George was nine when he died and GMBR's aim is to raise money for youngsters who face similar challenges and the charities/organisations/groups who do so much to enhance their lives.
Why the community needs usIn 2019 we are raising money for Stepping Stones, the West Wiltshire district specialist centre for children aged 0-5 who can benefit from specialist therapy and support.
Our impact on the communityIn 2012 we raised £3,000 for Jonah Wright in his bid to represent the UK in Boccia. In 2013 we raised over £7,000 for George's old school to help them build a garden for children like George. In 2014 we raised over £3,000 for Stepping Stones, a local support group who faced a £10,000 fundraising gap following the reduction in council funding. In 2015 we raised over £4000 which we split to BOTH Jonah Wright and Stepping Stones. In 2016/18 we raised £7500 for Stepping Stones.
