MICK'S BIG JUMP for Ability Dogs 4 Young People
Hello I'm Mick, I've always wanted to do a skydive and now I'm finally going to make it happen! On Tuesday 23rd June I'll be doing a tandem skydive from 10,000 feet. I wanted to use my jump as an opportunity to raise some money for Ability Dogs 4 Young People a brilliant charity that I support. Ability Dogs 4 Young People is dedicated to improving the quality of life for disabled young people and children on the Isle of Wight. They train assistance dogs to help with practical tasks and provide support to increase the independence and well being of those living with a variety of disabilities including cerebral palsy, autism and epilepsy. The charity only started three years ago and already has three working dogs placed, three more dogs being placed this summer and nine more puppies in training. It takes two years to train each dog and when placed the dog is fully funded by the charity so the individual can gain all the benefits of having the dog with none of the financial burden. Last September the charity moved into a Hangar at Sandown Airport to use as it's Training Centre and Headquarters and it needs all the help it can get to improve the facilities as their waiting list grows and demand increases for these amazing dogs. The charity couldn't exist without it's fantastic volunteers - I'm going to throw myself out of a plane for them. Fingers crossed for a safe landing!
A fantastic feat Mick - what a star!! Xx
