SWINDON 105.5 provides a truly local, inclusive and accessible broadcast service to the town.

We provide a totally inclusive 24-hour a day not-for-profit Radio Station that dares to be different to other stations serving the region providing an inclusive and accessible service. Contributing to the promotion of cultural, spiritual, social and economic life of Swindon. Really making a difference through such as regionally unique Work placements, school placements, training before going to college or university. Opportunities for all ages and abilities. Developing a Voice for communities.
SWINDON 105.5 received a Queen's Award (MBE) in 2014 and a Prince of Wales award in 2023.

Why the community needs us
Providing a unique voice for individuals & communities. No other service like ours in the region. On-air promotion for communities, groups, organisations and local business. Unique tailored courses. Enabling young people of all abilities to develop key transferable skills. Average 40 student placements each year. Providing knowledge and experience in the wide aspects of the industry to all ages and abilities. Courses. Volunteer support and mentoring. Work placements. Media training for community organisations. Promoting community activities at our studios and through outside broadcast and our mobile staging unit. Remote learning also developed during 2020 enabling individuals to be involved, safely from home.

Our impact on the community
Volunteers, trainees and community groups develop transferable social & professional skills through an inclusive, accessible service. Visually impaired and autistic volunteers produce their own programmes, leading to employment, volunteering or further education. Volunteers sharing skills, helping others. Community organisations confident in using the media to promote their services. Older people using their skills in a new environment or learning new skills.
Our policy is to say "Yes" - then work on the How, to deliver and meet individual needs - which are many and varied.
Presenter Ann (visually impaired and retired) says "My life has changed beyond belief, this is my second family."
Volunteer Tyler (autistic) says "I came here weekly whilst at Horizons school, after leaving I became a member of the team, coming in twice a week. My confidence has grown, I produce my own regular features and am now part of a team of autistic boys for a monthly programme we produce called "Spectrum". Coming in here means the world to me".
