Purpose

Support, friendship, information to mothers/partners and families affected by ante/postnatal depression. HAPIS offers individual, and group support working towards the reassurance of a positive outcome and recovery by responding to individual needs.

Why our community needs our service

Covering over 12,000 sq miles and a population of 210,000 where there are approx. 2,600 births a year. We expect to help 220 mothers and their families. There is no other group like HAPIS that provides a variety of individual and group support.

Results and outcomes

HAPIS offers counselling sessions and CBT therapy Feedback shows that all mothers feel better after sessions and weekly meetings. Tots group improves bonding with babies and are looked forward to. Our therapy days also give mums time to be pampered.

Our activities and projects

Proposed filming of a DVD on perinatal depression

It is proposed to start filming in March. This will be a 15 minute DVD of HAPIS mothers relating their experiences and covering as many aspects of recovery and support as time will allow. Fathers will have an input as will relevant professionals read more

Army Wives Support Group

Volunteers Required!

We're looking for mothers in highland area who've been through the experience of postnatal depression and would like to help other mums by being a buddy in their area. Support and ongoing training given. Contact karen@hapis.org.uk for more info
